Misty Fjords

Today was another awesome day. The first batch of cruise ships came in today and the city came alive. I was "observing" today so i got to go on the 5hr misty fjords trip. check out the pics!

Marine rescue operation

As part of my training i participated in a marine rescue operation (MRO) drill. The u.s. and Canadian coast guards were there along with emergency response teams from all over the world. Basically we all got on a boat, were told who had injuries and what they were. then the rescue operators did what they were trained for. It was alot of fun and i got paid to do it. After that i took a long hike out of ketchikan, down the road and to the beach. I collected a few rocks and stumbled on a part of the beach where all kinds of metal things had washed up. I call it "DEATH BEACH." I know it sounds hardcore but it has to have a hardcore name in one of the most hardcore places in the world... ALASKA!!!

today i went on a 3 mile hike along the coast and around ward lake. it was awesome. below is a link to the pics.

Ketchikan Alaska

Finally i made it. 5 days on the road and one on water and i have finally arrived at my destination. Its actually really nice here. no rain yet. the temps are in the upper 50's during the day and low 40's at night. This town is awesome. so much to do. I have met a lot of people so far, my roomates great and my apartment is massive! Below is a link to some pictures i took. Oh and sorry for the long delay in updates.
